Dress: c/o RosegalJacket: Levi's Shoes: Michael Kors, old (similar) /
Purse: boutique in Nice (similar) / Lipstick: Topshop "Rio Rio"

Now it really does feel like summer is taking its leave. School has started, my vacations are just photographs now, and slow days have begun to be replaced by busy schedules. I've always preferred fall to summer, but I couldn't help but get into some last-minute summer vibes with this Rosegal dress. I've never been one to wear maxi dresses, but I absolutely love the style of this one. It's not too heavy and hits at just the right length so I'm not tripping all over myself (though I did wear flatforms just to be safe...). Besides the maxi style, I also took a different direction in getting a piece that I considered a bit more "trendy." Palm leaf prints are all over right now, whether you live in Miami or the Midwest. So are straw bags. And funky colored sunglasses. So I threw em all together and made an attempt at keeping up with what is all the rage these days. Did it work? I'd give it a passing grade, and I'm certainly digging on this leaf print now. Rosegal has a ton of other cute palm leaf prints too, like this other maxi dress, this fancy skirt, this summer wedding guest getup, these crazy fun pants, and a perfect everyday dress. (For sizing reference, I'm wearing a L here and it's nice and comfy!)

How are you ending your summer in style?

Top: Madewell (sold out, similar) / Jeans: Topshop (on sale!) /
Flats: Charlotte OlympiaEarrings: Madewell / Bag: Ted Baker

It's here! The most extra bloggery thing I've ever done! Which was dragging my friend Sarah to the middle of Belgravia, London, just to snap some (okay, many) photos in front of this Insta-worthy pink bakery. Yes, you've probably already seen more beautifully styled photos of Peggy Porschen's bakery (like on Noelle's blog and Olivia's blog). But I was not going to miss the chance to trek here myself when I had my best blogger buddy by my side!

We got there relatively early on a Friday morning, so it was nice and quiet. I know nothing about the Belgravia neighborhood, but it seemed nice! There were a lot of flower stands and lovely looking bookstores and clothing stores (so tempting). Peggy Porschen's Cakes is relatively small but absolutely impossible to miss. I mean, obviously. We ordered some snacks (vanilla cake for me and a coffee for Sarah - check out her gluten free guide to learn more about their offerings!) and sat outside, trying not to act like we were so obviously there to take pictures. We weren't alone in that regard as more tourists stopped by throughout the morning (including some of the furry four-legged variety!).

So, worth it? For the pictures alone, oh yeah. The cake I had was not to my liking, but that's because I don't find cake in England generally yummy - too dense for me. But their brownies looked good and I took some cookies home for my parents, which were a hit. Either way, your taste for anything pink will certainly be satiated!

Wishlist: Pom Pom Shoes

Friday, August 11, 2017

I've been seeing poms poms everywhere this summer, and I'm not mad about it. In fact this post was inspired by the time I was sitting outside our hotel in Nice and saw a very chic lady (the native species of France) walking by with adorable block-heeled pom-pom sandals. I haven't managed to find the exact pair she had on, but in my searching I came across some pretty nice pairs that I thought I'd share here as well. Just click on the image to shop!

what to wear on a date with andrew garfield

Dress: Madewell (love this one) / Shoes: Ugg / Earrings: BaubleBar / Bag: Ted Baker

Sadly this is not one of those raffle prizes or contest wins, but I did technically go to a play with Andrew Garfield. Or, I went to the play. He was in it. Same thing.

Although I have travelled large distances to see my favorite actors live (Andrew in NYC once before, Jesse Eisenberg in NYC, Gemma Arterton and Jude Law in London), this one fell nicely into our already-planned trip to London. And Andrew just so happened to be starring in one of the most relevant masterpieces, Angels in America. My good friend Sarah graciously went with me and since the show was a matinee we had brunch at Duck and Waffle beforehand and then strolled along the Southbank afterwards, which is one my absolute favorite places in London. I've had this Madewell dress and worn it on multiple occasions - it's v easy to throw on and feel automatically fancy! Plus it goes great with my fave BaubleBar earrings, and basically I felt fab and thought Andrew deserved to see me in my finest ;)

All of this superficial talk about celebrity crushes and fun clothes should not distract from the fact that Angels in America is a very serious and important play about the LGBTQ+ community, religion, and what freedom means in America. Obviously these issues remain relevant and, devastatingly, unresolved in our current political climate. As a former English major, I will never not be impressed by how literature and art continue to reflect, shape, and challenge our society. Art reminds us to keep pushing forward, the play proclaims: "The great work begins."
