boss lady

Coat: Topshop (also here) (wearing a small) / Top: Kate Spade (similar) / Jeans: Topshop /
Shoes: Louise et Cie (also love these) / Bag: Chanel / Glasses: Zenni

I don't ever foresee myself becoming any kind of boss or generally having the ability to be in charge of a group of people, but if I did, this is what I would wear. Maybe pink glasses and sequin shoes don't scream "professional," but if you're the boss you get to set the rules, right? I feel very Janelle Monae in this outfit too, which is definitely good by me.

Yes, this is the coat that's everywhere right now, from Blair Eadie to Rachel Martino to this blogger whom I don't know but seems legit. If you are at all enticed by it, as I was, I say to go - get it. Spend that money girl, go for it. It is incredibly warm, so much that I've worn it inside my house when I'm watching TV. If do you buy it, be sure to size down! And also be ready for a lot of strangers to come up and start petting your shoulder... yeah, that's happened.

Jacket: Blank NYC / Dress: Samantha Pleet / Beret: old, similar /
Shoes: Topshop (old, similar) / Bag: Vintage Dooney & Bourke (similar) / Sunglasses: Karen Walker

Back with a beret! My version of back with a bang - more subtle and a little chic. As you can see, not much has changed during my unintentional hiatus - still crazy pale, still wearing round glasses even though I have a round enough face, still wearing the wrong shoes for the terrain, etc. But this is really the first time that I've actually "styled" myself in a while - something a little more thought-out than a sweater and jeans, ya know? A combination of things - unpredictable weather, hectic work and school schedules, and a, erm, lack of doing laundry - has held me up a bit in the outfit photos department. But I couldn't rightly call myself a fashion blogger without taking some pictures in front of the fall trees, could I?

I'm fast on my way to owning a beret in just about every color. I've never really been one for hats, but there's something about not having to worry if it's a good hair day and just throwing on something stamped with French-girl approval.

It's no surprise that Zara has all you need for fall. A majority of my own fall coats are from Zara, and they just keep coming out with good ones. So I did you a favor and already paired them with some fall footwear, you're welcome.

Modern Marie

Only appropriate that I bring my blog back from the dead on Halloween, right?

The biggest thing that dictates what I wear for Halloween is my poor, poor eyesight. Obviously glasses are a constant for me and I proudly wear them. But they do limit my costume choices. (Of course, I've made it work - see my past costumes here, here, and here.) When I saw this picture from a Wildfox sunglasses campaign, I knew I wanted to do a modern, bespectacled Marie Antoinette. It didn't hurt that I'd been wanting pink glasses for a while! I bought this pair from Zenni for only $40, which is certainly not bad for costume-wear and whenever I want to feel a little extra. Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out!

Halloween (All Saint's Day?) resolutions are definitely not a thing, but I am going to try and get back to blogging regularly. Fall's my favorite season and I'm going to Ireland in a few weeks so I should be able to actually get some posts up.

Jumpsuit: Anthropologie (sold out, similarsimilar) / Sunglasses: boutique in Nice, similar /
Heels: Nordstrom (similar) / Bag: bought in Nice, similar / Earrings: Madewell

I didn't know how I was going to wear this jumpsuit when I bought it at Anthropologie before my trip to Nice, but I knew I needed it. I mean, a tropical pink and green jumpsuit in Southern France just makes sense. I ended up wearing it when we took a day trip out to Monaco, specifically Monte Carlo, where I actually won a decent amount of money for someone who's never played blackjack before. (Also, the Wonder Woman slot machines.) I felt appropriately flashy but to be honest I could wear this jumpsuit to run to CVS - and not just because I'm #extra when it comes to clothes. It's seriously so comfortable, like very glitzy loungewear. 10/10 would recommend.

Best Sales to Shop This Weekend

Saturday, September 30, 2017

I've always meant to put together this kind of post, especially since I find them so helpful when other bloggers make them! And I'm not talking about those ubiquitous Shopbop sale posts... do you really need to see another one? And be somehow persuaded that 20% off of $500 is actually a good deal? No thanks. So here are some sales that I actually find worthwhile and totally shop myself, too - in fact I just bought these shoes while putting this together. Um, whoops?

steal her style: emma roberts

Thursday, September 28, 2017

I've always kept up with Emma Roberts throughout the years - envying her playing my absolute girl role model, Nancy Drew, and eagerly awaiting her killer outfits and quips on Scream Queens. Her real-life outfits are to die for, too (okay I'll stop). She always manages to look chic, classy, and clean-cut in a way that exudes elegance. And also expense. Like, very pricey. So I found some ways to achieve Emma's Hollywood style on a half-price budget.
