the disappearance of will byers

Happy Halloween!

I debated between a couple costumes this year (see my other costumes here and here), but as soon as I heard that my friends were down for a Stranger Things group costume, I knew. Though I feel a kindred connection with Barb (RIP), I wanted to step out of the box a little. Cue being an inanimate but animated wall. I thought i was so clever until I saw that a bunch of people also did this...but whatever I had a ton of fun buying Christmas lights early at Target and finding this perfect vintage vest to mess up with some alphabetic and prophetic writing.

These costumes came right off after this photoshoot and were replaced by pj's and gear to support our baseball team in the World Series (#rolltribe). Scary movies and homemade cookies with my buds was all I needed. Though of course Stranger Things shows us that just because you stay home doesn't mean you're safe from the scare!

queen bee

Monday, October 24, 2016

Jacket: Acne Studios (similar) / Tee: Kate Spade (similar) / Jeans: Topshop /
Shoes: Adidas / Bag: Kate Spade (similar, similar) / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

An outfit of contradictions: I wore this in October, but it was feeling like summertime had stuck around. And my top may say queen bee but I definitely feel more like a worker bee, running around like crazy. I don't think I've ever been this busy to the point where I barely every have one day free. Not to be complaining on my own blog, but I'm just totally ready for a break. Like, a week that consists of nothing but staying under warm blankets in my pj's. Who's with me??

weekly notes / vol. 9

Sunday, October 16, 2016

  • Look of the Week: Ughhh Karen's look is the perfect fall getup. Oversized sweater, cropped jeans, and those boots. I need them. I also need the perfectly coordinating Chloe bag, but ya know.
  • Blog I've Started Following: I started following Jen's blog when I saw a post about how her new jeans made her butt look great and she was super happy about that. And I thought, you know what, I need that kind of positivity in my life. Plus she's so adorable!

  • Instagram of the Week: I love Broad City, the ladies of Broad City, and this doodle. Yas queen!
  • What I've Been Listening To: One of my classmates brought up this piece by NPR that focuses on how implicit bias (seen so often now at work in police brutality) actually trickles all the way down to preschool teachers. A scary but really necessary study.
Brave Soul | Brave Soul Tassel Front Sweater:
  • What I'm Wishlisting: I somehow always manage to convince myself that I need more sweaters. When it's as nice as one as this ASOS piece, though, I don't need much convincing!

swedish blue

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Dress: COS / Bag: Kate Spade / Shoes: Acne (on sale!) / Sunglasses: Karen Walker

I'm not sure that "Swedish blue" is actually a thing, but if it were I'd imagine it would be most like Yves Klein's patented blue color. If you're not convinced, might I point out that both my blue dress and my blue espadrilles are made by Swedish companies (COS and Acne Studios). Did I buy the dress to match the shoes? Maybe. Did I know that I would also be matching the enormous snail installation art downtown? Definitely not. That's just the power of blue, my friends.

weekend out west

Saturday, October 8, 2016

Jacket: Blank NYC / Top: Forever 21 (old, similar here or here) /
Pants: LOFT (here in black, or burgundy leggings) / Shoes: Adidas / Sunglasses: Karen Walker

Not even going to apologize for the photo spam - Montana was so beautiful and I guess I was really feeling my outfit that day (and like also it's my blog and I can do whateva I want). I took a quick jaunt out west for the weekend because my family is spontaneous like that. I had no idea what to expect, really - the weather was up and down (one day it was 70 and the next it was snowing!) and I didn't really have a sense of what Montana would be like.

Well, I can say this: it is breathtaking.

Snow or no, the sights are utterly gorgeous: big, open, blue sky; crisp, clear air; tons of different colors blending together; and of course, the wildlife!

These photos were all taken in Yellowstone, which I feel is a pretty cool thing to be able to say. We spent a day there driving and walking around the geysers, rivers, lakes, and forests. I was sad not to see any wolves or bears, but maybe in retrospect that's a good thing...

Hope you all have a great weekend!
