What I'm Packing For Iceland

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Hi all! Happy Wednesday! Little by little, I've been packing for my upcoming trip to Iceland (we leave on Sunday)! The temperature will be in the 50s (I'm so looking forward to escaping this heat) and I couldn't be more excited to be packing my new fall duds! A lot of these purchases have happened recently, thanks to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which is my simultaneous joy and downfall each year. For once I'm focusing less on prints and patterns and more on color tones and textures. So you'll see a lot of suede, chunky knits, and a color palette something like the above.

Hannah Hunt - Vampire Weekend

As you can tell by my fringe-less hair, these photos were taken a while ago. My parents and I took a day trip to Columbus and did some walking around, eating, and of course shopping. I actually walked away from Easton with another striped shirt...but that one didn't have the cool bell sleeves that this one has, so it's obviously different and therefore totally justifiable.

Quick post today as I've got a ton of projects for school and work. Plus it's so hot outside that I just feel like this all the time now.

a moment of silence

"And the dead will be commemorated and we’ll struggle on with the living, and we are not going away. We won’t die secret deaths anymore. The world only spins forward. We will be citizens. The time has come. Bye now. You are fabulous, each and every one. And I bless you: More Life. The Great Work Begins." - Tony Kushner, Angels in America

We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. . . . then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? -- 1 Corinthians 15:51-2, 54-5

Top: Comme des Garcons / Skirt: Nordstrom Rack / Sneakers: Topshop /
Bag: Talbot's (old, similar) / Sunglasses: Karen Walker / Lipstick: MAC Ruby Woo

Feeling a bit French while trying to dress patriotically and also wearing a Japanese top...uh, Happy Fourth of July? But probably the most obvious thing going on in this look is my new haircut! Whooo! I've actually had this for a couple weeks #badblogger. I've always had a love/hate relationship with bangs. I had them as a kid and thought I looked pretty silly. Then I got them my freshman year of college (new school, new me and all that) and since there are literally zero photos of me from that time, I'm assuming I wasn't happy with them then either. But still the intrigue persisted! And here I am today, actually pretty happy with how they turned out. I think the short hair helps too. I don't know if I'll ever grow it out again! *insert sassy hair emoji girl here*

A while back, I deleted the Pinterest app from my phone and my usage of the site dropped to zero. I feel like I was either not getting anything helpful or inspiring when I went on it or I was completely overwhelmed. Well I re-downloaded it and have found my love of Pinterest again. Now I'm on there every morning finding outfit ideas, snack recipes, travel inspo, you name it. While I was browsing around (I believe I had searched "orange heels outfit" because I just got this lovely pair from J.Crew) I came across the brand Clad & Cloth. The name sounded familiar (probably because those sartorial words show up in a lot of names!) but it's a new brand to me so I thought I'd share! They have great pieces from basics to on-trend (check out that denim ruffle top!) and all at amazing prices. A couple of these pieces are even on sale right now. So go on and click the images above and browse around!

Happy shopping!
