Dress: old, similar, similar / Purse: old, similar, similar
Shoes: Nordstrom Rack (exact, similar) / Sunglasses: Karen Walker / Lipstick: Topshop 'Rio Rio'

Alternative title to this post: Support Your Local Businesses. This dress and bag are old, old purchases from boutiques around Cleveland. And then of course I'm back at my favorite "uptown" spot of the Museum of Contemporary Art which has an amazing gift shop but I've never actually bought anything from it...but I've considered it, so that counts as supporting local artists, right?

Quick post today as I've got a lot on my to-do list!
Hope you're all having a good start to your week, and happy almost fall xx

style on screen: scream queens

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Not sure why I'm only deciding to make posts about the fashions of my favorite TV shows now, or why I'm starting with Scream Queens (when I could have started with my old standbys like Pretty Little Liars or The Mindy Project...) Maybe it's because Ryan Murphy's latest show is all bright shiny and new. Either way, let's do this.

YAS, QUEENS!

My number one favorite styling so far on the show? Fur. Lots, and lots of fur. Obviously it's faux...right? I'm hoping so. Cause I really don't want to be loving on looks at the cost of dead animals. ANYWAY the fur came in so many different colors, from pastels to fall-appropriate darks. And I want them all.

What kept me watching the show as the ridiculousness escalated? Nick Jonas, of course. KeKe Palmer. She is the show's saving grace so far. And her outfits? Killer. Uh, in like the good way.

NO, PLEASE.

Apparently, with his show, Ryan Murphy is making one very loud statement: that newsboy caps are back. (Okay and maybe some other statements on sororities and cliques and holding grudges, yada yada.) But, seriously, newsboy caps? Ryan Murphy is falsely leading his viewers back into this dangerous territory. Caps on the golfers are one thing, sure, (especially if one such golfer is Nick Jonas...) but to wear out on a date? or out in public at all anywhere? Hard pass.

AND THE WINNER IS...

I mean, obviously.

rompin around brooklyn

Friday, September 18, 2015

Romper: In God We Trust (sold out, similar) / Necklace: Marc Jacobs / Lipstick: Topshop 'Rio Rio'
Shoes: Hinge (similar) / Purse: Kate Spade / Sunglasses: Karen Walker

A big #FBF here...these photos were taken almost two months ago! Sorry I've dropped the ball a bit on the blog, friends. I've been adjusting to the 6-3 life then unadjusting and now who really knows even anymore. The romper I'm wearing even went back to Brooklyn without me for a bit (a result of my wearing it nonstop as soon as I got it and then jamming the zipper...oops). Anywhoo it might even be time to overwear this outfit again since it's somehow gotten hot again. Ugh. I had just gotten my sweaters out from the attic, too.

Anyway back to actually interesting things - like my visit to the Brooklyn Museum. I mostly wanted to go for the Basquiat exhibition but there ended up being so many more exciting pieces that pour Jean-Michel got pushed to the side a bit. I'd never been to the Brooklyn Museum before and was so happily surprised at all the pieces they had by some of my most favorite artists, like Kara Walker:
The Guerrilla Girls:
And of course, Judy Chicago:

I really need to stop posting old photos because 1) it's just lazy and bad blogger etiquette but more importantly 2) it just makes me want to go back to New York even more than I already do (which is constantly). Anyway I hope you all are doing well. And let's hope the weather really does start changing soon, because I've already taken all my sweaters out of storage!!! Let's go fall I'm ready for you!!!

room redo

Friday, September 4, 2015

Wallpaper: Anthropologie (sold out unfortunately, but love this one!)
Dresser: custom
Duvet: Macy's
Desk: Crate and BarrelFile Cabinet: Crate & Barrel
Corkboards (DIY painted gold): Target
Chair: Target
Coats: Ted Baker via Nordstrom Rack
Nail Polish: Essie "Melody Maker" / Purse: Kate Spade
Prints by my talented friend Tess!

After what seemed like months and months and actually was months and months, my room redecorating is done! I am absolutely in love with the wallpaper and new furniture. Right now my only pops of color are the yellows in the headboard and chair and I think I want to keep it to that color scheme. Maybe a nice rug or an bright orange lamp, but overall I'm sticking with the teal and white. My room is on the minimalist side right now because I haven't finished unpacking and I kinda wish it would stay that way. But I do love tacking up my postcards and photos and prints from all my travels. It's definitely nice to come home to a space that is so completely relaxing and peaceful.
