too many spares, not enough strikes

Monday, March 30, 2015

Top: J.Crew Factory (also comes in this stylethis style and as a skirt - want!)
Jeans: American Eagle / Bow: American Apparel / Lipstick: Topshop 'Rio Rio'

Ah, bowling. America's past-time, am I right? No? Is that just me and my weird, near-constant desire to go bowling? Not sure why, but I am up for a round of bowling fall, winter, spring, or summer. Obviously I went for spring here (optimistically) mainly because I couldn't wait to wear my new J.Crew top. Let's just say I did a little too well at their outlet store. Maybe that's another reason I love bowling - the only sport where you can pretty much wear whatever you want! Definitely a plus in my book.

Oh by the way! I'd obviously heard about Her Campus before (I mean, have you not? Do you live under a heavily testosteroned rock?), and a ton of my friends at school write for Her Campus, but I'd never gotten involved until now. Thanks to my friend Katie (hi girl!), I learned about the Her Campus Blogger Network and I'm really excited to announce that I've been invited to join the HC family! I don't expect much will change on my blog here, mostly because all of what Her Campus is about aligns so well with my own interests. But I'm excited for this opportunity and hope you are too!

Thanks for reading, friends! Best wishes as we approach the end of the semester and what will hopefully be spring for real this time.

Oh, P.S. - Neither my dad nor I got any strikes, so yes, only spares. Gonna get 'em next time.

blue steel

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Top: Topshop / Jeans: Target / Shoes: Old, similar / Necklace: Nordstrom / Nail Polish: "Navy I Do"

Obviously I am nowhere near any sort of level of "blue steel" (I'm not even close to the typical fashion blogger "cooler-than-thou" poses...which I'm convinced have something to do with those oversized sunglasses they all wear) but the lovely pairing that is navy and grey prompted the title.

Also, a bit of a mysterious air surrounding these photos - when were they taken? The sun is shining, but is their snow on the ground? Was it last month? This week? Who knows - we've had sunny days where it actually feels like spring and snow overnight that's gone in two days. I guess all I can say is thanks for keeping me guessing, weather, and making picking out my outfit a new challenge!

Thanks for reading!

currently craving / spring styles

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Sometimes spring clothing is prettier than spring itself. Especially when it's mid-March and there's still snow on the ground, am I right?

school daze

Monday, March 16, 2015

Top: J.Crew (similar, similar) / Pinafore: Topshop (similar)
Tights: Boohoo / Boots: Dolce Vita (open-toe version and on sale!)

Back at school and I think I've forgotten everything. How do you write an essay? How do you send an email? How did I ever walk this much without wanting to take a nap in the middle of the day?? And more relevantly, how do you dress for spring??? It's true, everybody - after whining for months (okay, not months) the sun is out, the snow is gone, and I'm almost too hot. I mean, I don't like this jump from winter to summer - I have a four-season wardrobe and I'm gonna use it dangit! Spring dressing here I come! ...Well, in a few outfit posts, that is. These photos are obviously from when winter was here and I was complaining about it and I could only counter it with cozy plaid shirts and schoolgirl styles.

Hope you're all transitioning from season-to-season okay!! Much love and thanks for reading.

spring break

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Coat: House of Fraser (similar) / Sweater: Target (similarlove this one) / Pants: Loft (in stores)
Boots: Topshop (similar) / Hat: Target (similarlove this one) / Bag: Madewell (similar)

Although my spring break has mainly consisted of too much snow (it's cruel to call it spring break) and being holed up studying, I'm grateful for fun outings like these with my buds going shopping. I of course bought way too much but the new spring items were so tempting that I couldn't help but buy some in the hopes that that'll help spring itself to hurry along. (If you recall, I've used this philosophy before.) Still, coats might just be my favorite piece of clothing so I'm happy to still have reason to do that.

Hope you all are enjoying yourselves, wherever you are! We don't all need to be in Miami or Los Angeles to have a good break, right? Right.

Shirt: Jack Wills (same shirt w/o the logo) / Jeans: Anthropologie (last year, similar & on sale!) / Necklace: Zara (old, similar) / Lipstick: MAC 'Relentlessly Red'

Hi all! The weather continues to be dreadful (melancholy, dismal, lifeless - sorry, I've been reading too much Dickens) and so I humbly present another indoor outfit post. I fear I'm getting too predictable - is every other post going to have a bee or my initials in it? Hopefully not, but at the same time - I know what I like! And what I like is a classically cut Oxford shirt with a hint of pink pinstripes and some letters that just happen to be my initials elegantly and subtly monogrammed atop. Jack Wills, you've done it again.

I wanted to stay in keeping with the classic Oxford style so I went minimal on my accessories and colors. These were taken right around Valentine's Day and some subtle pink was good enough for me. I've also worn this shirt with a skirt and it proved equally lovely so I'm looking forward many different stylings, all while boasting my two favorite letters to the world.

Hope you're all braving this weather! I am...not. Staying in bed all day reading doesn't seem to be the definition of 'braving' to me.
