shop my closet!

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Hi all!

I know I've mentioned this on the blog once before, but I've decided to sell a few of my gently worn or never worn items on Poshmark. Poshmark, if you don't know, is a website and app that lets you sell your items and buy from others - it's free to sign up, easy to use, and insanely addictive. Poshmark does take a cut away (maybe less than 10% I think?) for commission and shipping fees. But so far I've found it to be really useful. I've bought some gorgeous J.Crew sweaters on there and sold some of my own items relatively quickly as well. If you're at all interested, here's a peek into what I have up for sale on my Poshmark closet. Obviously I'm still away at the moment, so new items aren't being added as often, nor will I be shipping any orders until after I return (January 1st). Anyway, here are a few items I have up for sale currently (click on the gold captions to shop):

Coat: Topshop (last year, love this one or similar) / Dress: Anthropologie (exact on eBay)
Boots: Dolce Vita (here or love these) / Earrings: LOFT / Necklace: Zara (old, similar)

I wish this title were from a cool Alex Turner song or the title of a new indie move I'm writing but it's just the actual situation of trying to take photos at night. On a whim we decided to go to a gallery show in Little Italy (the gallery is owned by Nana Franco, aka Mitzy Verne, aka Dave's and James' grandma!). I didn't have to get dressed up, but it had been a while since I had a chance to, so why not, right? The gallery was featuring prints by Kata Kata and they were so lovely. They are whimsical and childlike and organic and just wonderful! We ended up buying two prints, a large "dancing bear" and I picked out the "three bears" which I actually think looks more like one bear and her two adopted wolf babies, and of course I love that even more.

I'm still in England, or maybe France at this point, but I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, if you celebrate!

Coat: Ted Baker / Turtleneck: T.J. Maxx (similar) / Skirt: J.Crew (old, this year's)
Knee Socks: T.J. Maxx (similar) / Boots: Topshop (similar) / Lipstick: MAC Ruby Woo

I love this skirt so so much but I feel as though I can only wear it once a year...right now, during the holiday season. Every other time, it just feels like I am reviving my old Catholic school uniform. I feel like the holidays are really the only time of year when people dress all-out. No one really wears "springtime sweaters" or "summer hats" quite like they do with Christmas sweaters and winter beanies. So why not go all out during the holiday season? I did, throwing on some cozy knit knee socks and a turtleneck and finding some convenient Christmas trees and poinsettias as my backdrop.

I can only imagine what I'll wear on actual Christmas...

Much love from England! Merry merry!

Earrings: LOFT (on sale!) / Nail Polish: Essie "Wrapped in Rubies" & "Penny Talk"
Boots: Beau Coops (high heel version on MAJOR sale) / Belt: LOFT (on sale!) / Planner: Rifle Paper Co.

Hi friends! Another round-up of recent purchases here, some of which are on sale!

The photos (and items!) speak for themselves, but this is also a quick post because I am currently traveling around England. I've got a queue set up so this blog won't be totally empty while I'm away, and hopefully I'll be coming back with loads of nice photos too ;)

Happy shopping! Oh and holidays, too.

Blazer: Forever 21 (similar) / Top: Brooklyn Industries (similarish, this one's cool) / Jeans: Topshop
Boots: H&M / Bag: vintage Chanel / Sunglasses: Karen Walker / Lipstick: Topshop Wicked

Flashback to sunny Brooklyn! It was another one of those beautiful days over Thanksgiving and on this particular one we decided to hop a ferry over to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan-Brooklyn Overpass, btw). The ferry ride itself was so nice, as well as all the views of the different bridges and skylines it provided. We walked around DUMBO, I dropped over a hundred bucks in a bookstore (lol whoops), and there were like a million weddings going on. Or at least four. All in the same vicinity too - right near Jane's Carousel. Which I of course had to get on. (I promise I was much more enthused than my face looks.)

Anyway, hope you are all enjoying your holidays! Tomorrow I leave for England, but I've got a queue set up or if you want to follow the adventures live, follow me on Instagram:

Sweater: Topshop (similar) / Pants: LOFT (similar) / Shoes: Sole Society (similar, love these)
Hat: Janessa Leone / Necklace: Nordstrom (similar, similar) / Bag: vintage Chanel / Lipstick: Topshop "Wicked"

I think this might be one of my favorite outfits I've ever worn. I always try to look my best, but most of the time I just feel good about what I'm wearing - this outfit made me feel great. And honestly I talk about this a lot with my friends and with my mom and we all agree that there is something uplifting about wearing something you feel good in. I can sincerely say that when I wear something I like, I have a better day. When I feel blah in my outfit, my mood lowers too. Maybe it's our way of rationalizing all the shopping we do - but I truly believe that what you put on your body should and can make you feel good. And I really want to stress the you in all that - you should feel good most of all; it's great if you want to impress others but if the outfit doesn't make you smile what's the point?

Okay self-love talk aside. I wore this to go shopping around Williamsburg with my mom. We hit up Buffalo Exchange (where I scored some gorgeous J.Crew heels for 20 bucks) and then wandered into a Brooklyn boutique called Concrete + Water. Holy cow everything was gorgeous! They had a Samantha Pleet dress that I'd been dying over and a couple other labels I vaguely recognized. Everything was in blues and greys and clean lines, sharp edges. Very hip. Then my mom and I started noticing that everything only came in a size 2 as well... not as fun. Okay so they did have some bigger sizes, but the fact that my mom and I walked out with just accessories should tell you something. Mind you, they were wonderful accessories. My mom got a gorgeous pair of sunglasses that I want to steal from her and we both got the same pair of boots. Then I added this hat on a whim! I generally have a strict rule regarding mixing black and navy but I couldn't wait to try it on so here you are.

Hope you all are surviving finals/holiday stress! Thanks for reading.
