"where is your costume, Wednesday?"

Friday, October 31, 2014

Happy Halloween, everybody!!

Dress: ASOS (last year, similar) / Tights: Boohoo / Shoes: Topshop / Lipstick: Topshop

When you're a pale girl with dark hair and an affinity for collars, your Halloween costume is clear: Wednesday Addams. Doesn't hurt too that she's a force to be reckoned with. Plus sometimes it's fun to be grumpy for the camera, and to suck the life and soul out of a party (figuratively, of course).

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! What were you? Are you already planning for next year? (I am - Tina Belcher, I'm comin' for ya.)

Thanks for reading!

currently craving / fall boots under $100

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

1 ($85) / 2 ($60) / 3 ($50) / 4 ($70)
5 ($80) / 6 ($35) / 7 ($70) / 8 ($80)

Is fall not the best season for putting together an outfit? All you need are sweaters and boots, and then you can just throw some comfy leggings on in between. Boots might be the most obvious footwear choice here, but why not? They're functional and cute.

Happy almost Halloween, friends!

Coat: Zara / Dress: Forever 21 / Shoes: Topshop (here in nude, or similar and similar)

Hi everyone! Two posts this week, hooray. You can thank my friends for that for being so encouraging and for offering to take my photos (thanks, friends!). I can't get enough of my Zara coat which is so cozy and has a hood - can you go wrong? I picked up these Topshop booties while in Chicago. I'd been eyeing the pink pair over the summer but decided that black was more wearable and seasonally flexible. They are surprisingly comfortable for walking in, even on my gravel- and wet leaf-lined campus. Wow, if only I could analyze history events or psychological processes like I analyze my shoes. I bet my papers would just write themselves.

Anyway, happy fall! Hope you all are having a good October so far. Thanks for reading!

Photos thanks to Liz!

Coat: Zara / Sweater: H&M, old (try here, here) / Skirt: Anthropologie
Shoes: Jon Josef / Purse: Kate Spade

Hi friends! Sorry for the sporadic posting over the past few weeks, but I'm hoping to make a case of quality over quantity. This past weekend I was lucky enough to get away for a few days and visit Chicago. We had a huge breakfast (make sure to hit up Tempo next time you're in the windy city!), took these photos in cute little park and hit the Topshop, Zara, and Bloomingdale's that were conveniently next door (I know how to pick an outfit location, don't I?). I'm so happy it's sweater and tights season, guys. Cold weather just means getting to wear more clothes!! Put on everything you just bought all at once!! (Only 40% joking.)

hat attack

Monday, October 6, 2014

Hat: Forever 21 / Varsity Jacket: Forever 21 / Sweater: J.Crew (cute collared sweaters here, here) / Jeans: Topshop / Boots: Dolce Vita / Purse: Vintage Chanel / Lipstick: Revlon 'Cherry Blossom'

Ah, hats. Somehow I can't achieve the effortlessness which you seem to imply. Don't so many people throw on hats when they're having a bad hair day? For some reason I seem to be the opposite - gotta make sure every hair is in place before I put a hat on top. Plus I think hats tend to look better on people with bangs. Complaints, complaints, but I do love the look of this wide-brim one (which was my bargain version of this utterly gorgeous one from Madewell). Had a chance to finally wear it when I popped home for the weekend where I then rummaged through my closet to find some old favorites like this varsity jacket. Luckily for my wallet, this was a weekend where I went shopping in my closet.

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping warm! Sweater season is upon us friends!!!
