i'm a teen vouge fashion click blogger!

Friday, February 28, 2014

Hi friends! Hope you've all had a relaxed week.

I've got some more outfit and inspiration posts lined up but I just wanted quickly to share some exciting news. I've been approved as a Teen Vogue Fashion Click Blogger!
I can't tell you how many Teen Vogue magazines I've got hoarded under my bed at home. Honestly still one of my favorite fashion and trend sources today. I'm always so envious of those cover stars who get to do the fun photoshoots. And what about those lucky girls with the to-die-for bedrooms that Teen Vogue features at the end? Too cool.

You can learn more about the Fashion Click Blogger system here, and be sure to read my posts on there as well!
Thanks for your support, which I'm overwhelmed by and grateful for so early on in my blogging experience!

much love xx

Turtleneck: J.Crew (on sale!) / High-Waisted Jeans: Urban Outfitters / Loafers: Zara / Necklace: J. Crew

Hi friends!

Took these photos a few weeks ago, very early in the morning (this college student hasn't seen 7 am in a while) but also last-minute, as my mom was leaving Exeter. Had such a great time with her and of course, being the two of us, we managed to spend a lot of time shopping :)

I've been looking (and looking and looking) for a pair of high-waisted jeans for some time now. I guess I'm too picky because even after finding this pair I wanted them in a lighter wash. But I'm happy I finally went for it - these are so comfy and I can already envision wearing them over and over. Also these shoes. Oh let's talk about these shoes. Had to take my mom into Zara and it just so happened they were having a massive sale. Saw these babies under a table somewhere and picked them up and loved the price. Then put them on and loved the feel. Seriously, they are so incredibly comfortable. Patent leather that's soft, can you believe it? Nice one, Zara.

Anyway I hope you all are having a great week! To my friends and family in the US - stay warm please!!

birthday tea

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Celebrating my birthday for real this time and - oops, it's tea all over again! I can't stay away, guys. Thursday is when I go to tea anyway so it just felt right. But I did treat myself to chocolate caramel shortbread as extra. Not to mention touting my vintage Chanel around (and by touting I mean handling delicately and obsessively).

Thank you to all my friends and family who helped make this day a very lovely one indeed. I love and miss you all!

How gorgeous is this Salvador Dali dress???

Can we bring these fun sixties prints back please?

Hi friends! Hope you all had a great weekend.

I traveled to London on Friday with some classmates for a weekend full of museums and theatre. Pretty much all this girl right here can ask for. Oh and good food and shopping. So really, perfection. On Friday I spent the morning at the Tate Modern and had time to kill before we saw a show in the South Bank. So I poked around and there happened to be a fashion museum within walking distance!

The museum itself is pretty small and the current exhibit is the whole of what's on display. Currently it's the "Artist Textiles: Picasso to Warhol" exhibition. It was too fun! So many scarves and dresses designed (and sometimes even made!) by artists. As a fashion lover and art history minor it was practically heaven. Matisse is one of my absolute favorite artists and his silk scarves were predictably gorgeous. And I was surprised by Salvador Dali's designs - they were practically tame! I'm dying over that safari print dress of his. Would love to have that in my wardrobe. I also didn't expect just how much Picasso contributed to the textile industry - he even had designs for little kids' clothing!

Swinging sixties music played throughout the exhibition and I was pleased to see the spotlight on female artists as well. (After all, were would the fashion industry be without us ladies?) There was also a spotlight on designer Sarah Cambell, whose vivacious and colorful designs were a favorite for Liberty Print.

Such a pleasant way to pass an afternoon. The cafe and gift shop looked inviting but sadly my time (and money) was running out. If you'll be in London at all over the next few months, be sure to check out the museum! It's on until mid-May. (

Back to work, work, work this week. And hopefully the sun will decide to come back.

Have a lovely Sunday! Thanks for reading.

Always exciting to see what fashion editor Miroslava Duma will wear at her next appearance! And what with New York Fashion Week happening now, Miss Duma will be sure to wow the crowds. I'm looking to try out that black and white houndstooth ensemble in the corner. But I also love her use of inspired color, not to mention all those fabulous coats, oh those coats...

Sweatshirt: Jack Wills (in stores, other colors here) / Pants: H&M, old

Sometimes you just need to wear sweatpants on the bottom and top. Lazy Sunday, right? I love both of these pieces though because you could actually wear them out in public. Structured, skinny sweatpants...good thinking, H&M. And I love this top for soooo many reasons. First, it's fulfilling Pantone's color of 2014 - "Radiant Orchid." I've actually never been one of those who tries to incorporate Pantone's color celebration into her life, but I can't say no to a purple pastel sweatshirt. Second, it's so incredibly soft. Like being wrapped in a hug. (Too far?) And last but absolutely not least, and my main reason for buying it, it literally has my name on it. Nope, that's not monogrammed, that just happens to be both the company's and my initials. Thank you Jack Wills, for emblazoning our letters on everything you make. And then practically forcing me to buy it all. Ooops?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and here's to the start of a great week! Thanks for reading.

Floral Blazer: Dillards, old (similar herehere) / Sweater: H&M, old / JeansTopshop Leigh (so incredibly comfy!) / Lipstick: MAC "Relentlessly Red" (although I've found it to be more pink, which I love!)

Hi friends!

Experimenting here on a few levels - one, taking pictures inside. If you can believe, it's even more grey outside than my curtains. Hasn't stopped raining here all week. I wake up every morning to 100% chance of rain all day long. But it's actually flooding in other parts of the country, so could be worse! (And I hear it's still below freezing back home. Yikes!) Which leads to my second experiment - wearing spring colors to bring warm weather. That's a thing, right? If I wear flowers in a blazer they'll pop up from the ground, yeah? Hmm we'll see. (Also I may have been inspired by Kendi...shh, I'll never tell.) And thirdly, taking pictures by myself. I hate to bug my friends and family and I'm still a bit camera-shy, so I thought I ought to experiment with my camera and my space more. I'm actually considering investing in a tripod, so if anyone has any recommendations for portable, easy to carry tripods please let me know!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Thanks for reading!

P.S. - anybody watch Pretty Little Liars? WHAT is going on??
