Coat: ASOS (similar, similar) / Scarf: gift / Beret: Talbot's (similar in black) / Bag: Vintage Chanel
Sweater: J.Crew (last year) / Jeans: AG Jeans / Boots: Franco Sarto / Lipstick: Clinique 'Matte Crimson'

Happy post-holidays everyone! And a merry everything. I always find it hard to resist wearing every new thing I got for Christmas during the days immediately after. So here I'm only wearing three new things for you (four if we count the lipstick but we don't right?). The desert boots were the only ones I'd actually put on my wishlist so the scarf and camel coat were a great surprise. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to ever get a camel coat - they're so chic and classic, but luckily my mom made that decision for me. (Thanks mom!)

I hope you are all staying healthy and by that I mean not getting sick. But hey if you want to be healthy in your eating and exercising habits who am I to stop you? I'll just be over here eating piece after piece of cake and using my Wii and my dog walking for exercise...
(Hey that's what New Year's Resolutions are for right?)

Much love and thanks for reading!

Sweater: J.Crew (similar) / Skirt: J.Crew (last year, similar, similar)
Shoes: Talbots / Lipstick: MAC 'Ruby Woo'

Happy holidays, everyone!
Last night was my annual Christmas party with my friends and I realized, with a little disappointment, that I'd already worn all of my ugly Christmas sweaters (and even regular Christmas sweaters) to our previous parties in years I opted for 'festive casual' instead. At other times of the year I'm afraid to don this skirt as it's a bit school girl (and I already had to wear a uniform for the first eighteen years of my life) but at Christmas the plaid works nicely.

Hope everyone has a lovely and restful holiday season!

it's beginning to look a lot like...

Sweater: Jack Wills (this year's by JW or similar, similar) / Plaid Shirt: J.Crew (this year's here or here)
Jeans: American EagleBoots: vintage / Bag: Chanel

Christmas! These photos are a bit old, from when I was in New York a couple weeks ago, but it's appropriate that I'm posting them today because it's national Christmas jumper day! I'm not sure if that's just a British thing (haven't completely switched over to the American side of things yet), but I say if it involves Christmas and a sweater, why not dedicate a day to it? Above is not my loudest holiday sweater (I mean it doesn't have reindeer) but it was warm and good for layering in chilly NY.

I hope everyone is having a good December! To those of you like me who are in the middle of finals: we can do this!! Throw on your coziest holiday sweater and let's get to work.

Thanks for reading and much love xx

Hat: Target, old (similar) / Fur Snood: ASOS / Coat: Topshop
Sweater: Topshop, in stores (similar) / Jeans: Topshop / Boots: Dolce Vita / Lipstick: Topshop 'Inhibition'

Listen, it's a dangerous game when there's a Topshop two blocks from your hotel in New York City. And one in the corner of your favorite mall. And online. But also, it's not my fault - winter is partially to blame, because you have to wear so many layers which means more clothing on top of more clothing and -
Okay I'll stop. In all seriousness, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! As you can see, I was lucky enough to escape to NYC for a couple days. No matter how many times I've been I always want to go to the same spots. I think Rockefeller square with its lights and ice skating rink and huge Christmas tree is my favorite spot in the winter! These photos were taken right after the Macy's Day Parade went by, but don't those city streets look clean and empty! The magic of New York, people.

Hope everyone is making the transition back to real life okay! Only a few more weeks til Christmas!!

mid-november inspiration

(via 1, 2, 3, 4, 56, 7)

Hi all!

Sorry for the radio silence there. Midterms and absolutely frigid weather leave little time for blogging. But Thanksgiving break is here and I'm looking for inspiration everywhere I can.

What's getting you through this mid-month chill?

"where is your costume, Wednesday?"

Friday, October 31, 2014

Happy Halloween, everybody!!

Dress: ASOS (last year, similar) / Tights: Boohoo / Shoes: Topshop / Lipstick: Topshop

When you're a pale girl with dark hair and an affinity for collars, your Halloween costume is clear: Wednesday Addams. Doesn't hurt too that she's a force to be reckoned with. Plus sometimes it's fun to be grumpy for the camera, and to suck the life and soul out of a party (figuratively, of course).

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! What were you? Are you already planning for next year? (I am - Tina Belcher, I'm comin' for ya.)

currently craving / fall boots under $100

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

1 ($85) / 2 ($60) / 3 ($50) / 4 ($70)
5 ($80) / 6 ($35) / 7 ($70) / 8 ($80)

Is fall not the best season for putting together an outfit? All you need are sweaters and boots, and then you can just throw some comfy leggings on in between. Boots might be the most obvious footwear choice here, but why not? They're functional and cute.

Happy almost Halloween, friends!

Coat: Zara / Dress: Forever 21 / Shoes: Topshop (here in nude, or similar and similar)

Hi everyone! Two posts this week, hooray. You can thank my friends for that for being so encouraging and for offering to take my photos (thanks, friends!). I can't get enough of my Zara coat which is so cozy and has a hood - can you go wrong? I picked up these Topshop booties while in Chicago. I'd been eyeing the pink pair over the summer but decided that black was more wearable and seasonally flexible. They are surprisingly comfortable for walking in, even on my gravel- and wet leaf-lined campus. Wow, if only I could analyze history events or psychological processes like I analyze my shoes. I bet my papers would just write themselves.

Anyway, happy fall! Hope you all are having a good October so far. Thanks for reading!

Photos thanks to Liz!
